Il Teatro Palamostre ospita un’installazione audiovisiva dell’artista Betty Apple, protagonista assoluta della Pink Night 2025, e della performer e sound artist millacu che curerà una selezione musicale che accompagnerà il pubblico nell’universo creativo di Betty Apple.
L’opera dell’artista taiwanese e mistica digitale Betty Apple vi introdurrà nel mondo di Beta: sirena futuristica, creatura di una dimensione alternativa che viaggia sulla Terra nel tempo e nello spazio, atterrando sull’isola di Taiwan nel 2021.
In un’avventura che la porta ad assorbire energie fantastiche da un Dragon Palace nelle profondità marine, prima di trasformarsi in umana, Beta vive un “risveglio da sirena” in chiave digitale e contemporanea. Attraverso quest’opera, Betty sovverte l’immagine stereotipata e patriarcale della sirena. Dal costume da sirena ai giganteschi seni in silicone, la sua avventura Queer, Punk e Sci-Fi riscrive il significato sia di IT Girl che di Information Technology, con un personaggio surreale e immagini evocative.
La ricerca musicale di millacu trae ispirazione dal quotidiano ed esplora i rapporti che esistono tra paesaggio e presenza. Attraverso la rielaborazione del suono registrato, strumentale e della voce, millacu si muove tra atmosfere ambient, corali e sonorità sperimentali, intrecciando a volte ritmi uptempo e deconstructed nei suoi set.
Nella sala Carmelo Bene, lo spazio della performance, il pubblico potrà muoversi liberamente. La location è accanto al Contatto Bar, rinnovato per nuova gestione, che rimarrà aperto durante l’evento.
L’opera audiovisiva è stata realizzata dal celebre collettivo queer taiwanese MW Studio, interamente girata con un iPhone 12 ProMax in luoghi iconici della costa nord di Taiwan, tra cui il Tempio delle Conchiglie e il Mercato del Pesce.
Il lavoro è stato commissionato e presentato dal Melbourne Fringe come parte del Fringe Focus Taiwan, con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura della Repubblica di Cina (Taiwan) e del Cultural Division del Taipei Economic and Cultural Office di Sydney.

The Teatro Palamostre will present an immersive audiovisual installation by Betty Apple, the standout artist of Pink Night 2025, together with performer and sound artist millacu, who will guide you through a sonic journey into Apple’s visionary world.
Taiwanese artist and digital mystic Betty Apple invites the audience into the universe of Beta: a futuristic mermaid, creature from an alternate dimension who travels through time and land on the Earth; falling on to the island of Taiwan in 2021.
In an adventure that sees her absorb fantastical energy from a Dragon Palace under the sea before turning into a human, she undergoes a mermaid awakening that adopts a modern digital slant. Using experimental rap music and videos, Betty overthrows the stereotypical, patriarchal image of mermaids. From the mermaid costume to the gigantic silicon breasts, Betty’s Taiwanese Queer Punk Sci-Fi adventure redefines the meaning of both the IT Girl and Information Technology with a surreal character and moving imagery.
millacu is an Italian performer and sound artist. Her music research draws inspiration from everyday life and explores the relationships between landscape and presence. By re-imagining recorded sounds, instruments and vocals, millacu moves between genres involving ambient, choral and experimental, sometimes drawing intersections of uptempo and deconstructed rhythms in her sets.
The performance location is Carmelo Bene hall, where the audience will be free to move around, located right next to the newly renovated Bar Contatto.
This AV installation work is filmed by the famous queer Taiwanese filming crew: MW Studio. The work was filmed with iPhone 12 ProMax in the iconic site of the northern coast in Taiwan, including the Temple of Shells and the Fish Market.
This work is commissioned and presented by Melbourne Fringe as part of Fringe Focus Taiwan, supported by The Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan) and Cultural Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney.
