L’arco dei samurai: la storia ultramillenaria e le tecniche dello yumi

Nel corso della storia, i samurai hanno impugnato spade e lance, ma soprattutto si sono distinti per l’uso dell’arco, un’arma fondamentale nelle battaglie e nelle cerimonie.
L’arte dell’arcieria giapponese si è evoluta attraverso i secoli, adattandosi a esigenze e contesti diversi: si tirava in piedi, in ginocchio, a cavallo o seduti sullo zafu; le distanze variavano dai 28 ai 120 metri; si utilizzavano guanti di varia fattura, rigidi o morbidi, con tre, quattro o cinque dita; le punte delle frecce potevano essere acuminate, a forcella, a forma di foglia di salice o persino fischianti.
Questo viaggio attraverso la storia e le tecniche del kyūdō verrà raccontato da un “ite” (tiratore) con oltre 30 anni di esperienza nella disciplina.

The art of Japanese archery evolved over the centuries, adapting to a range of needs and situations: the samurai shot standing, kneeling, on horseback or sitting on the zafu; distances varied from 28 to 120 metres; rigid or soft gloves of various types with three, four or five fingers were used; arrowheads could be sharp, forked, willow leaf-shaped or even whistling.
This journey through the history and techniques of kyūdō will be led by an “ite” (shooter) with over 30 years of experience in the discipline.
