Sashiko, l’arte del ricamo giapponese

Un workshop dedicato alla scoperta del sashiko, l’antica tecnica di ricamo giapponese nata come metodo di rinforzo e riparazione dei tessuti. Il termine sashiko significa “piccoli punti” e si riferisce ai caratteristici motivi geometrici realizzati con filati bianchi su tessuti indaco, che conferiscono un effetto raffinato e senza tempo. Questa tecnica era utilizzata in passato dai contadini e dai pescatori per rendere più resistenti i propri indumenti, oggi è una forma d’arte tessile ammirata in tutto il mondo. I partecipanti avranno modo di apprendere le basi del sashiko, scoprendo come questa pratica, oltre a permettere di creare splendidi effetti decorativi, sia anche un’attività antistress, che invita alla calma e alla concentrazione.

A workshop dedicated to the discovery of sashiko, the ancient Japanese embroidery technique born as a method of reinforcing and repairing fabrics. The term sashiko means “small stitches” and refers to the characteristic geometric patterns made with white yarn on indigo fabrics, giving a refined and timeless effect. The technique was used in the past by farmers and fishermen to make their clothes more resistant, while today it is a form of textile art admired throughout the world. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of sashiko, discovering how, in addition to allowing the creation of splendid decorative effects, this practice is also an anti-stress technique which invites calm and concentration.
