Il sashiko è un’antica e tradizionale tecnica di cucito giapponese. Nata in Giappone tra il 1615 e il 1868 tra le popolazioni rurali del nord del paese, divenne in poco tempo una delle arti manuali più conosciute e popolari. Ai partecipanti verrà fornito un mini kit con il necessario per sperimentare i primi rudimenti di questa antica tecnica che è caratterizzata da motivi geometrici di grande effetto.
Prima del laboratorio pratico, seguirà una breve introduzione della storia del ricamo e lo scopo per il quale è stato utilizzato in passato.

Sashiko is an ancient traditional Japanese sewing technique which appeared in Japan between 1615 and 1868 among the rural populations of the north of the country, and which quickly became one of the best known and most popular manual arts. Participants will be provided with a kit containing everything necessary for experimenting with the basics of this ancient technique which is characterized by eye-catching geometric patterns.
Before the workshop there will be a brief introduction to the history of Sashiko and the purposes for which it was used in the past.
