La rilegatura fukuro-toji, a quattro fori, è la più diffusa tra le tecniche giapponesi di cucitura dei libri. Tipica del periodo Edo, era utilizzata per rilegare romanzi educativi, romantici o umoristici. È un’arte che ben incarna l’estetica nipponica minimalista e non ostentata. Durante il laboratorio, preceduto da una breve introduzione storica, i partecipanti rilegheranno i quaderni seguendo gli schemi tradizionali e utilizzando vera carta washi. La tecnica del fukuro-toji è accessibile a tutti e gli elaborati rimarranno ai partecipanti.

Fukuro-Toji binding, which uses four holes, is the most widespread Japanese book stitching technique. Typical of the Edo period, it was used to bind educational, romantic or humorous novels, and is an art that perfectly embodies the minimalist and unostentatious Japanese aesthetic. During the workshop, which will be preceded by a brief historical introduction, participants will bind notebooks following traditional patterns and using real washi paper. The fukuro-toji technique is accessible to all and participants will be able to take their creations home with them.
