PINK PREVIEW: Talk with the artist

Un talk pensato per conoscere più a fondo il lavoro di Betty Apple, artista d’avanguardia taiwanese protagonista della Pink Night. In un dialogo aperto con il pubblico, verrà esplorata la sua ricerca artistica, che intreccia musica, video e media art e prende vita in performance e progetti sperimentali. Si parlerà del corpo come strumento di potere politico, dell’utilizzo da parte di Betty Apple della musica, della performance e della realtà virtuale come strumenti di critica al sistema capitalistico, colonialista e consumistico. Approfondiremo anche le tematiche del suo lavoro video IT-ME: TIME Traveller Beta2021, presentato in prima nazionale il 25 aprile al Teatro Palamostre durante la Pink Preview, nonché del suo recente tour in Australia, ospite del rinomato Asia TOPA Festival, la principale triennale australiana dedicata alle arti performative dell’Asia-Pacifico. Durante il festival, Betty Apple ha collaborato con l’artista Betty Grumble, trasformando il dancefloor in un altare del corpo, del ritmo e dell’energia divina femminile.

A talk to allow participants to learn more about the work of Betty Apple, a Taiwanese avant-garde artist and protagonist of the Pink Night. In an open dialogue with the public she will explore her artistic experimentation, which intertwines music, video and media art and comes to life in performances and experimental projects. We will discuss the body as an instrument of political power, Betty Apple’s use of music, and performance and virtual reality as tools of criticism of the capitalist, colonialist and consumerist system. We will also delve into the themes of her video work IT-ME: TIME Traveller Beta2021, which has its national premiere on the 25th of April at the Teatro Palamostre during the Pink Preview, as well as her recent tour of Australia as a guest of the renowned Asia TOPA Festival, the main Australian triennial dedicated to the performing arts of the Asia-Pacific. During the festival, Betty Apple collaborated with artist Betty Grumble, transforming the dancefloor into an altar to the body, rhythm and divine feminine energy.

The meeting will be held in English, with simultaneous interpreting by a volunteer.
